The Antique Hunters Guide to Murder: Book Launch

The Client Brief

Author Cara Miller approached Jazzy Bee to film the UK press launch of her debut novel, The Antique Hunters Guide to Murder. Both Cara and her publisher Pan Macmillan wanted a short film to create a big buzz that would get people talking and buying the book. Cara also wanted this film to impress her publishers and gain traction in other worldwide territories like Germany, US, Canada, Australia to list a few.

Our Approach

So a film with immediate impact and impact that could be built upon across the digital landscape was key here. To achieve that we proposed;

Phase 1

To film the evening event and get it edited, turned around and delivered to the client for the next day when the book would be officially launched to the public on Amazon UK and in bookstores.

Phase 2

Edit to a length that wasn’t so short that you wouldn’t really register the product or the author and not too long that made viewers bored. Ideal timing 2 minutes.

Phase 3

We mapped out the editorial story objective:

(i) to humanise and get to know the author.
(ii) meet a very special guest who was the inspiration for one of the main characters from the book.
(iii) capture the buzzing energy of the evening event.
(iv) the enthusiasm and praise from the guests to include the literary publisher, editor and agent.

The Result

A fantastic film that has been played across the digital arena on all social platforms and sits pride of place on Cara Millers own website. Jazzy Bee loved being part of this moment for a very talented debut author who is now an international best selling author.
